A work of Heart

Hi Friends and Stampers!

Happy Holly-Day!  Wow, what a great weekend I had.  We took the kids to Anaheim, California on Friday, checked into the Camelot Motel, (Which I highly recommend), they went swimming and we went to Captain Kids Buffet, (oh boy did they love that!) for dinner.  On Saturday we went to DisneyLand for the day!!!  We have done the two day passes before and it's always felt like one day too many to me, lol.   I haven't been for a while and it's just not that far away for us, so I am so glad we did it.  My Sister came for a surprise visit on Sunday and is leaving this evening, so this is all going to be short and sweet! lol.   I was able to get this card done in a hour, because I HAD to, lol.

Those Blue-Prints sure make it a lot faster and easier to make a card design, I highly recommend them.  They are easy to mix and match around because you get so many different dies in each one.  A real bargain when you consider how much you pay per die.  I hope you will check them out!

You have one more day in our current Challenge over at the Loves Rubberstamps Challenge Blog - Home Made Flowers.  And Tomorrow is the first day in the month and a new Challenge will begin, hmmmm I wonder what it will be, lol.   If you have been playing along in our challenges, you will already know :)

Thanks for checking in on us,

Holly

Sensational Sunday Inspirations + CANDY!

Hello and Welcome to the Sensational Sunday Blog Hop!

I am sorry this was late today! This whole week I have only been sleeping about 3 - 4 hours a night and it caught up to me last night and I fell asleep before I got my post scheduled :(  I am the world's most horrible blogger!

Yesterday we had a surprise visitor! As I have posted before, my husband races the Pink Heals Race car and we had named our car after a special little girl that has been through more things in her 10 years than many of us will have to go through in a lifetime. She has an extremely rare form of dwarfism of which there is only 4 cases in the United States. She has battled Lymphoma, had a kidney transplant and numerous surgeries. Well, Emily was in town to visit her Uncle and she was able to stop and see the race car in person as well as sign the car :) Here are a few pictures! The first is Emily with my husband, Tim and the second is her sitting in the race car :)

And I think Emily was our good lock charm because Tim won his heat race and then came in 4th in the feature which was pretty awesome :)

A Sun Kissed altered Canvas!

Hi Friends, It's Marcy here and I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  I've been under the weather this week and have a few cards in the making but thought I'd share another canvas with you.

Here it is...

This is one of my favorite pictures of my son, Ethan, taken a few years back!  I knew the minute I saw this picture, I wanted to do a layout of some sort with it.  I had some extra canvases so ended up altering one of them.  After coloring up the base with some sage green acrylic paint, I again kept it pretty simple since the papers I used are so pretty already.  This older paper collection is from  Prima called "Sunkiss" and is still one of my favorites.   I embellished my canvas with goodies in my stash including some burlap, a small wooden chipboard frame from Michaels, some Wild Orchid Crafts flowers and a Tim Holtz ticket stub which says "Adore".   On my roses,  I also added a bit of gold stickles around the edges to tie in with the colors and give them more sparkle!   I was out of my sculpting paste but may add a little bit of stenciling later since I love that mixed media look.

Here are the Supplies Used:
Sunkiss - Prima
Tim Holtz embellishment
Pumice Stone - Tim Holtz Distress Ink

Be sure to stop by the Loves Rubberstamps store to see the items used in my project!  Tomorrow we have the "Sensational Blog Hop" so be sure to come back to visit!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
Marcy

Thinking of you

Hello Friends and Stampers,

Happy Holly-Day Monday!  I know, I know, I have to go back to work too, lol.   I sure did enjoy these past few days off though.  Somewhere along the line, I had lost my mojo.  I finally decided it was due to the fact that I had to make things with my elbows in due to the stacks and stacks of excess from prior projects, new stuff I wanted to keep out to use, and just plain stacking things up.  So I cleared off my desk, dusted, and sat down to finally make something.  Here is what I made.

Sometimes letting the ink pads color for you is the way to ease back into some mojo.  I promise immediately afterwards, I started coloring with my Copic Markers again, lol.

I hope everyone has been over to the New Items page at the Loves Rubberstamps store! Laura has been a busy bee getting a new stamp line in and has added some others, so go check those out!!!  Also, you don't want to miss out on the Loves Rubberstamps Challenge, Spots and dots, this is the last day to play!  And there will be a new one tomorrow!!!

Thanks for looking and for your kind comments.

Holly

Father's Day Canvas

Hello, It's Marcy here and today I wanted to share a canvas project I made for a Father's Day present to my dad.

Here it is...

I felt like it had been so long since I had made anything other than cards so I was so excited to take the opportunity to make my dad a canvas project for Father's Day.  I always love making these as special gifts or keepsakes.  This picture was taken in front of the Golden Gate Bridge and my dad is carrying my son, Ethan.  My dad is retired and is Ethan favorite baby sitter! :)   They do spend a lot of time together and I knew he would love this gift!  I kept it pretty simple and a little more masculine.  I did load it up with lots of Prima including the papers which are from the "Seashore" collection.  I also added some of these cool bark butterflies, some wood pieces and a small typo bulb which says "Us".   I also have a metal token from Tim Holtz.  The flowers I added are from Wild Orchid Crafts and Recollections.  I did add a touch of mix media by stenciling with some medium sculpting paste mixed in with some distress paints.

Here are the Supplies Used:
Seashore - Prima

Be sure to stop by the Loves Rubberstamps store to see the items used in my project and to check out all of the cool Prima goodies there!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hugs,
Marcy

Flying High

I have another special card with balloons. It is balloon season with congratulations! Tons of birthdays and tons of graduations! So this card fits all themes I think.

I tried hard to figure the pleats out and that just didn't work out. I still think the image looks good but not GREAT! It was still such a fun image to color!

Items Used:
Tiddly Inks - Flying High Annabelle

Love Story

Hello Friends and Stampers,

Happy Holly-Day Monday!  I hope your week is off to a good start.  I know mine is.  Yesterday was our 12th Anniversary and I whipped up this card for Joe in one evening after work on Saturday, lol.   I love this set and the sentiments.  It's true, our love story is my favorite.

I was 35 and a single parent of two teens in California.  He was a single guy in Pennsylvania.  We had one friend in common and before you know it, I was flying over there and he was flying over here and I was flying over there again.... to pack up the U-haul and move him  across the country.  You have to admit, he is a brave man, lol.

I hope you have had a chance to play in our Current Challenge - Clean and Simple.  Our New challenge starts tomorrow and you do not want to miss that one either.... it's my challenge!   You also want to pop on over to the New Items in the store and take a look at all the cute stamps Laura has just added.

Have a great week and I will see you again next week.

Sensational Sunday Inspirations + Candy

Hello and Welcome to the Sensational Sunday Blog Hop!

Hope you all are having a great weekend so far! We had a LOT of unexpected family members come home and spend time with us this last week! My brother Dustin, who is in the Air Force, his wife Heather and my nephew Jaxsyn came back from North Dakota and left last night. I got to meet little Jaxsyn in person for the first time and he is such a little sweetheart! He has the sweetest, happiest personality for being 8 1/2 months. He just loves everyone and is always smiling! Here is a picture:

Then my Aunt Jackie was back from Missouri to stay with my Grandma this week which is nice. AND Tim's sister Nikki was back visiting from Puerto Rico and his brother Joseph was back from Utah. We got to meet his wife Bethany for the first time. So it has been a busy week of meeting new family members and spending time with those we haven't got to see for awhile!

Because we had so many unexpected family members come home and go to the races with us this week...we let Austin race last tonight, even though he still has some classes to finish up and pass first. Here is a picture of Austin getting ready to race in his heat race. He did pretty good for only his 2nd night of racing. He didn't spin out and he kept the car and himself in one piece!!
