Amazing, Beautiful, Fabulous YOU!

Happy Saturday Friends!  It's Marcy here with a fun card share for today.  I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend so far!

Here is my card...

I had been making so many Valentine's Day cards for the last month that it felt a little odd at first to make something completely different.  Well that didn't last too long when I took out my bin of cute MFT Pure Innocence stamp sets!  These images are so adorable and so much fun to color up with my copics.  This PI girl comes from a set called Make a Wish.  After coloring, I cut her out on stitched circle die and then added some handmade banners made using the gorgeous Fabulous collection by Simple Stories.  The kraft background is embossed with some polka dots and I also used my white gel pen to run some stitches around the border.  I added a few enamel dots to finish off my card.

Here is the full supply list for my card:
Make a Wish - PI Collection by My Favorite Things
Fabulous - Simple Stories
Mustard Seed - Tim Holtz distress ink
Black Tuxedo - Memento Ink

Make sure to check out the Loves Rubberstamps store to see all of the Pure Innocence collection stamp sets by My Favorite Things!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Saturday!

Hugs,
Marcy

Create Magic

I couldn't help it and had to do a little more mixed media again! This card was created for Loves Rubberstamps. This time I play more with teals and a little texture!

I had no idea what I was doing. This was just total play time I will admit. Then I have these canvas tags in my stash and I thought TEXTURE.

I did use some dimensional paint again and thought the shimmer of the brown paint complimented my distress edges!

Thanks so much for joining me today. Keep coming back for more inspiration!

Mixed Media Clouds

Hi Friends and Stampers,

Happy Holly-Day Monday.  I hope your week is off to a good start!!!  Today is my day to show you some inspiration.    Mixed media has always fascinated me.   It's not really my style but I used to do a lot of it in Grade School, lol.  I have been inspired by others incorporating their mixed media into their cute and whimsical styles, so I thought I would have a go at it.

MFT BB - Some Bunny
Wink of Stella Clear

For the clouds, I used a Cloud Stencil.   I used a Gelatos Blue and mixed in some Light Modeling Paste.  I used the the tools from the mix and match Gelatos Tool Set.

(Pay no attention to the back ground creative clutter!) You can see I literally took the cap off the Gelatos and like a crayon, I marked on my my re-usable non-stick craft sheet.  (Which, by the way, I saw on another blog that someone had purchased a craft mat and taped on their non-stick craft sheet and just uses it for her mixed media and other projects.  That way it does not roll and you can pull it out any time you need to use it.  I LOVE this.)    Then I used the spatula and took out a glob of the light modeling paste.    Then I just mixed them together with the other mixing tool brush.  Then I placed the stencil over the paper and applied the mixture to the paper with the mixing tool brush.  And then I set it aside to let it dry.   I checked back in a couple hours and it was dry.   When I push down on it, it is hard but not the brittle breakable kind of hard, so I would feel comfortable sending this in the mail.  I was very pleased with the texture it added to the clouds and to the card.   Something different.

And since I had ALL those Gelato Colors out:

MIX & MATCH GELATOS GIFT SET from Faber-Castell
I decided to see if I could water color the images I used.

And I did.  Again, I colored onto my non-stick sheet, used an old cheap paint brush and added drops of water to the colors and mixed with the same brush.  For darker areas, I dabbed the brush in water, tipped some of the water off and then picked up the color off the sheet and applied it to the image.   It was so fun and easy.   As you can see, I decided to change the color of the basket after I snapped this picture.

From the Gelatos mixed set above, you can see that there is a couple sponges.  I took a sponge and picked up some of the Gelato and water mixture and then sponged the designer paper and the white paper around the edges to add some dimension.

I had a lot of fun with this one!  I will be breaking out the Gelatos again and again.  I would like to add some more mediums to stash.  Laura has a few in her store that I am going to be picking up soon.

GESSO JAR 100ml from Faber-Castell

GLAZE JAR 100ml from Faber-Castell

WHIPPED SPACKLE JAR 100ml from Faber-Castell
Whipped Spackle

Just to name a few.  Here are the Faber-Castell products that she carries.

Thanks for checking in on me.

Sensational Sunday Inspirations Blog Hop

Good Morning Stampers!

Welcome to the Loves Rubberstamps weekly Sensational Sunday Blog Hop! The Design Team has created some gorgeous projects for your Inspiration. Check out each link and leave a comment. If you get lost along the way, each stop will have a full list of links. One of the Design Team posts is the hop's Sensational Sunday Sweet Spot and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to be in a monthly drawing for a $20 Loves Rubberstamps Gift Voucher! We will draw the winner of the Voucher the 1st Sunday of each month from all the comments left on the design team blogs! Remember, you have until 8:00 pm CST Saturday to leave your comments!

Hope you are all having a great weekend so far! I am currently battling laryngitis so my husband has been pretty happy the last few days with me not being able to talk ;)

Last Wednesday my doctor called with my test results and biopsy findings. We had some expected news and some not so expected news. No cancer, but some pre-cancerous type changes that he wants to keep an eye on. He switched one of my meds to a stronger dose. So I started that this week. So far it has been going ok.

So with all these health things that I have been going through it really makes me start to think about how much I really need to start focusing on getting healthier and doing good things for my body. One of our Design Team Members, Shanna, is a beachbody coach. She has been doing an AMAZING AMAZING job making healthier choices and sticking to her workouts and staying motivated which is a struggle for me. I am good for about 2 weeks then I don't know what happens to my brain. She has a really awesome facebook page called Shanna's Fit & Fun where she posts workout tips, motivational posts, recipes...so if you find yourself in the same boat as I am in and needing to add some healthier choices to your life, check out her page. I am super proud of Shanna for sticking to her program, especially with two little ones at home and still finding time to pump out her gorgeous Design Team Projects! She is truly an inspiration!

So in honor of Shanna I thought I would re-share one of my FAVORITE projects that she created. She is so talented not only with her out of this world coloring skills, but she is so creative with her mixed media projects. I have been wanting to delve into the Art Journaling world but find it a little intimidating still. Sometimes I feel like I just don't have a good mix of "stuff" to add to my pages yet to make them Art Journal worthy which is silly of course. Because an Art Journal page has no rules, you are supposed to just play and have fun and try new things. If it sucks...gesso it and start over - LOL! You will notice in the store that I will be starting to add more mediums, stencils, stamps, sprays and other things that would be great things to use not only with making cards and scrapbook page backgrounds, but mixed media projects too. Super excited for that!

Here is Shanna's gorgeous Art Journal Page:

I love the colors and that is such a pretty quote as well! The dylusions sprays with the ghosting makes such a cool background!

Here are the products Shanna Used:

Items Used:
Prima Stamps - Alpha Letters, Girl Hope and Inspire, Create Explore

Vintage Tags using distress inks

Hi Friends and Happy Saturday!!! I have something a little different from my usual card to share with you all today!

Here are some vintage tags I've made using my distress inks...

So when I first started making cards, my style was very much different from how I create today.  I would say it was more of a vintage grunge style.  I definitely couldn't do without my distress inks and I loved to layer and use flowers in everything I made.  Now with distress inks as popular as ever as well as stencils, pastes, sprays, water coloring, background stamps etc..., I've been having so much fun creating different backgrounds with all of my art media supplies! I also love layering whenever I have a chance which is perfect with these types of projects!

Here are the supplies used:
Victorian Velvet - Tim Holtz distress ink
Spun Sugar - Tim Holtz distress ink
Vintage Photo - Tim Holtz distress ink
Dried Marigold - Tim Holtz distress ink
Black Soot - Tim Holtz distress ink
Butterfly punch - Martha Stewart
Black Sparkling Embossing Powder - Ranger
Black Tuxedo - Memento Ink
Multi- Medium Matte glue - Ranger

Hope this gives you some inspiration to get grungy with your inks!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Hugs,
Marcy

Dare to Spread Your Wings

A little mixed media inspiration for you all today! Shanna here and I am beyond happy and excited to play with some new Prima goodies that will be coming to the store soon. I cannot get enough playing with tags lately.

I first adhered down my paper, then gesso'd and inked them up.

I did use some dimensional paint with a stencil and tons of background stamping using the new Prima stamps.

I tried to give some dimension with the butterfly and the vellum tag but not sure it turned out exactly how I wanted it to.

Moose You

Hi Friends and Stampers,

It's my turn to post on the Loves Rubberstamps Inspiration Blog today.  I have a couple stamp sets that I just have to put away for now, lol.   I love this Moose stamp set by Sugar Pea Designs.  If you love it and have to have one too, just send a quick email off to Laura and she will get this one for you.  With so many new stamp companies, it's really  hard to keep up on all the new releases, and Laura has not been feeling well for quite a while now, her Grandma was just in the ICU and now her son is very sick with Scarlet Fever.  So if it takes a bit to get a reply from an email, you will understand why.

Sugar Pea Designs - Merry Christmoose

I airbrushed the sky with my Copic Markers, colored the cute Moose with Copic Markers and then fussy cut him out and added him on to the airbrushed layer.  I also added the tree on to the this panel.

I hope your Holly-Day Monday is a good one!  The boys are off school today, so it's free Ipad day and running around outside.  I have a few chores to get caught up on and then I plan to spend most of the day getting inky, lol.   I hope you have had a chance to play in our current challenge!

Have a great day!

Holly

Before you start the hop I just wanted to give a quick update on things here. I had my tests at the Hospital on Thursday and was pretty worn out for the last few days with some side effects. I will have the test results and biopsy findings Monday, so keep your fingers crossed all is good. My Dr. was able to say that I am in an active flare with my colitis...like I didn't know that since I have been since the beginning of December - LOL!

Grandma is doing better too. She was released from the hospital on Friday and is staying with my Uncle for the next week. She is still having a little bleeding in her stomach and will be having another scope in about a week to add some more bands to try and get the bleeding to stop. Her cancer Dr. told us Monday that they did see that she had a very mild heat attack in addition to her bleeding issues. But so far she is doing better so let's hope she continues!

I will be having a busy day today of packing orders since I have been out of commission this week. Let's hope all goes smoothly and my tummy cooperates :) Thanks for hanging in there with us as I have been dealing with both Grandma and my health issues. My emails unfortunately are still a horrendous mess...I am concentrating on shipping first and then will tackle those as quickly as possible. The hardest part is finding the needs responded to emails in the midst of all my mess :) So thanks again for your patience!

Now let's hop along and see what the Design Team ladies have in store for you...

Be Mine

Hello Friends and Happy Valentine's day!   I hope you all have some fun plans today...whether you're spending it with one special person, your family or even just doing something special for yourself, I hope it's a sweet one!!! :)  And of course, to celebrate this special holiday, I couldn't NOT make a Valentine's day card, right?!!

So here it is...

You might have recognized that I made a similar card a few weeks ago....well actually the background was similar!  I just love making these water color backgrounds and playing with my distress inks!!!   I took some water color paper and then added lots of water and some fun Tim Holtz distress inks in shades of pinks and purples.  I then took some water droplets to splatter all over my card and picked them up with a paper towel.  The resist effect the distress inks have with this technique is pretty cool.  You can't really see it in the photo but you can really see it up close!  The adorable image on my card is by The Greeting Farm and she is from the Bean collection.  This cutie is called Sweetie Bean and one of my all time favorite images for Valentine's Day!  I had so much fun coloring her up with my Copics.  I added lots of Wink of Stella all over her outfit and her heart garland to give her lots of shimmer.  The sentiment was stamped onto my paper using Versamark Ink and then embossed with some Ranger black sparkling powder.  I finished off my card with some fun colorful sequins.

Here is the full supply list for my card:
Sweetie Bean - The Greeting Farm
Seedless Preserves - Tim Holtz distress ink
Picked Raspberry - Tim Holtz distress ink
Spun Sugar - Tim Holtz distress ink
Shaded Lilac - Tim Holtz distress ink
Black Sparkling Embossing Powder - Ranger
Black Tuxedo - Memento Ink

Hope you give these water color backgrounds a try!

Have a great  Valentine's Day weekend and thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs,
Marcy

Summer Art Journal Page

Hello everyone. Shanna here with some new weekly inspiration! This week I played in my art journal with some new H20's I got. I thought something bright and colorful would really pick up the doom and gloom of the weather here lately.

I loved playing this go around. I love teal by nature but I like to play with other bright colors too.
This page first got a coat of gesso. After gesso I played with some gelatos.
Then I gave some splotches of H20's a whole bunch of different colors to be exact.

Then I used some 3D Matte Gel mixed with glass glitter to lay down some of the stencil. I also used some stamps newly created by Limor Webber just to add some edging around the edges.

Here you can see more up close details here in this photos.

Follow Your Heart

Hi Friends and Stampers,

Sorry I am a bit late today sharing my inspiration, That  whole day late and a dollar short thing really is applying here, lol.  I did make a card the other day for today, but that whole, getting a picture and posting thing seemed a bit difficult to do, lol.

This was a quick and easy card.  I offset the sentiment and stamped it twice.   At first the black color didn't really seem to fit.  Then I tried it in Red and it seemed to disappear in the hearts and then came the ah ha moment and I offset them and it worked for me, lol.

Love is in the air and Valentines Day is looming on us.  I have been having some serious discussions with my husband about how every day life seems to take us away from who we are and what we want out of our relationship.  I know Valentines Day is a big commercial Holly-Day that drives men out for flowers and candy and couples flock out to restaurants for dinner.  Sometimes there are proposals, sometimes weddings, sometimes jewelry is involved.   But for couples who have been together as long as me and my hubby, it's a reminder not to celebrate and nurture the relationship for just a day, but rather most days of the year.  So that's what we have decided to do.   And that's why there is no set path, you just need to follow your heart.

On a totally different note today, have you heard of Bubby Everson?  He has terminal CMV and is celebrating his ninth birthday this month.   He loves getting mail and cards and even looks through the junk mail.   His parents say he loves stickers and they let him stick them everywhere.  Here is the article.   I made Bubby a card as well.

If you want to send Bubby a card or stickers, or both, here is his address:

Bubby Everson
P.O. Box 1142
Graham, Washington

Okay that's all I got today, lol.   I'll see you again next week.  Please be sure to look at the New Items Laura has added to the store, as well as our Challenge Blog

Thanks for checking in on me today,

I am not sure if you have seen on the Facebook page or our store page but I have been a little behind with emails and shipping this week. my Grandma was transported emergent to the hospital Tuesday Evening and placed in ICU. She had a life-threatening GI Bleed in her throat. They were able to go in and place bands to get the bleeding to stop and so far she has been doing a little better each day so that is really good news! She will be in the hospital for awhile still but she is headed in the right direction and that is the main thing :)

With the week that I have had I wanted to share with you a Bright & Cheery project! I found a really pretty one that Blankina had done for one of our challenges called Glitter & Sparkle.

I love this color scheme and how Blankina used all her sparkly gems! such neat details with them on the dress for the Prima Doll! You can bet that this is really sparkly and even more gorgeous in person! Here are the items Blankina used on her project...

Paper Indian Summer Marianne Design PK 9076

Another Valentine's Day card - Love!

Happy Saturday Friends!  Marcy here with yet another Valentine's Day card!  I know I've been on a roll with them but I can't help it!  I keep finding all these cute images which are just too perfect to pass up for this fun holiday!

Here is my card share for today...

This card features one of the adorable images from the Miss Anya Garland set by The Greeting Farm.  This was the first time I had created with this image and she was just so much fun!  I colored up her hair and skin with my copic markers and then decided to paper pieced her pretty dress and socks.  The beautiful V-Day papers I used are from a collection called Love Note by Fancy Pants.  They have such pretty papers and I really like the design for the background of this one used on my card.  I  added some scattered sequins and some roses from Wild Orchid Crafts to finish off the card.  You can never go wrong with roses on Valentine's day, right?!! :)

Here is the full supply list for my card:
Miss Anya Garland - The Greeting Farm
Love Note - Fancy Pants
Spun Sugar - Tim Holtz distress ink
Black Tuxedo - Memento Ink

Make sure to check out the Loves Rubberstamps store for all of the great Valentine images and papers!
