Faith & Trust & Pixie Dust

Hi Stampers!

Today starts a new Loves Rubberstamps challenge! This one is everyone's FAVORITE... Anything Goes! Before I share my project that I created for inspiration... I wanted to share a picture of my Grandma :) For those not aware, she is battling breast cancer for the second time and just had a masectomy at the beginning of March. Last week, I received a surprise in the mail from one of our Design Team members, Athina Emory, of a lovely card for myself, and also one addressed to Gramma and for only her to open it :) Grandma was super touched by the lovely card and she wished for me to tell Athina - thank you so much from the bottom of her heart. She loved the card and thought it was such a wonderful surprise. This is for you Athina :)

For my project today I am trying to use some of my stamps that I have not had the chance to ink up yet. I totally adore C.C. Designs stamps and I saw that their challenge this week is to use an image with wings so I decided to play with Pixie Lucy. This is one of my super favorite stamps and it is horrible that I have had her for so long and never had the chance to color her up yet!

I decided to try and go with some bright, bold, spring-like colors because I am getting tired of cold and snow - LOL! The mushroom image is one from my very first purchase of Magnolia stamps when I bought the Alva and Alf elves collection. This is one of the accessory stamps for the characters to sit on. I colored my Pixie Lucy using copic markers. Her hair and skin colors are all from the 6 piece copic sketch marker set. I don't own very many copics yet so the grays in my mushroom are spectrum noir markers and the cap is actually all the colors from the Color Fusion 2 Trio. The flowers are a mix of handmade rolled flowers and prima flowers. Using so many flowers on a card is a new thing for me too - LOL! I always admire the cards with loads of gorgeous flowers arranged so perfectly. I think I need one more prima flower next to my two rolled ones on the bottom :)

Here is a little closer look at my Pixie Lucy and mushroom together:

And here is a closer look at Pixie Lucy so you can actually see the Dazzling Diamonds on her wings...

I also am super lame when it comes to trying to come up with a lay out for my cards so I looked around and saw this card sketch from Card Mania for their challenge this week and decided to use it for my lay out :)

I hope you enjoyed my project today and please come play along in our challenge this week! Our design Team and myself would love to visit your blog and see your creations :)

Happy Stampin!

You Drive Me Wild...

Hi Stampers!

Today is my day to post my Design Team project for The Cutting Café! This week we had to use a really cute printable stamp set called Feb 14. I have to admit that this stamp set puzzled me for a little bit and I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do. I just got in the new Love Story Collection of Designer papers from Echo Park and spotted a super cute leopard print (which is my favorite) and I remembered that this stamp set had a really cute sentiment that said... "You Drive Me ... WILD!" And well....my project was born - LOL! Here it is...

I decided that I wanted to make a corset using that cute leopard paper so I searched around online until I found a cute design I liked and then created my own template. I am super excited about how this turned out ;D

I plan on creating a Mini Album and using this as my front cover embellishment. It is fairly large about 6" 1/2" tall and a little over 6" wide so it will be perfect!  My husband and I got married on Valentine's Day so I think I will have this be an album featuring pictures of our love through the years...sounds like a fun plan! Now I just have to decide on what kind and size Mini Album I want to make because I have never made one before :) But at least my Cover Decoration will be done - LOL!

When you get the chance later today be sure and swing by The Cutting Café Blog and see what the rest of the Design Team created using this adorable set! Plus you can enter Regina's weekly drawing for FREE GOODIES!!

Happy Stampin All!

Thankful For You

Hi Stampers!

Today is Tuesday which means a new Loves Rubberstamps Blog Challenge! This week our theme is Thanksgiving. Here is what I came up with for my Design Team Inspiration project...

For my project, this image is actually a little witch but I cut the pointy end of the hat off and made it look like she has a fancy straw hat instead of a witch hat.  This adorable little "witch" is from Sweet Pea Stamps Elisabeth Bell Collection and is called Wispy Willow with Pumpkin. I thought it was so cute I wanted to use it for more than just Halloween! I colored her using Spectrum Noir markers.

My vertical panel is made by stamping the Food Word Collage Stamp from Impression Obsession multiple times to make my own background paper. My other papers that I used are from the Bo Bunny Apple Cider 6x6 paper pack.

The flower I had made about 6 months ago and it has been sitting on my desk staring at me with it's one pearl wondering if I would ever use it on a project. Well, I finally found the right one for it :) I had come across a video showing how to make a melted satin ribbon flower and had to try it right that second so that is how this flower came to be. I think they are really cool looking so I will be making some more. Here is a close up of my flower...

I accented my card with some flourishes cut from glitter paper for a touch of bling using My Favorite Things Die-Namics Fancy Flourish Die. My sentiment is from the My Favorite Things Pure Innocence Collection - Turkey Time. The layout that I used is from Sketchy Colors:

Hope you will play along with us this week!

Standing Pretty

Hi Stampers!

Today is Tuesday which means it is a new Loves Rubberstamps Challenge!!
This week's challenge is a Pinterest Photo Inspiration Challenge! I love these! Here is the photograph that we had to use:

Isn't this adorable? There are TONS of ways to be inspired from this photograph. You could be inspired by that sweet little girl herself. You could be inspired by the gorgeous dress with the lace, pearls, and the creamy white layers. You could choose to be inspired by that gorgeous flower headband. Or just the vintage, shabby chic feel of the photo! Or combine it all! Your choice that is what makes it so fun!

Here is what I came up with for my inspirational piece...

I have always loved the look of the white on white layers using different embossing folders and this was the perfect inspiration piece to try it out myself! I used the little girls dress as the inspiration for my background. I distressed the edges, but I did it after I used my embossing folder so it was kind of hard to do it without tearing it too much. I also punched the edges of the strips with my tiny heart border punch from Stampin Up!

With having an all white background I really wanted my little girl image to pop so I chose to color her with deep, rich colors. This adorable image is called Standing Pretty and is from the Elisabeth Bell Designs Collection from Sweet Pea Stamps.

Here is a close up of my image. I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the ribbon in her hair and the front of her dress for some added sparkle.

I hand drew the grass using my prismacolor pencils and went around the image with pencil first and blended it out. The added some very faint clouds and sponged sky. I wanted it to be really faint. I think I got a little too much glitter on her dress and I noticed my red bled a little into her arm. Red is such a booger sometimes! I still think she turned out pretty though :) I added little pearls to her dress and ribbons too.

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to be inspired by that gorgeous flower so I created my own "scrunch flower" This is my absolute favorite flower to make. I love how they turn out! Reminds me of little carnations which are one of my favorite flowers.

Here is another look at the main panel and flower together...

The little sentiment on the jewelry tag punch is from Stampin Up! I wanted just a subtle one nothing too big and this was perfect.

I also used this week's sketch from My Favorite Things because it had lots of awesome layers which I wanted for creating all of the white on white embossing. Here is a look at the sketch:

I am also entering this in the Elphine House challenge because it is for Elisabeth Bell images. Their challenge is a 3,2,1 challenge. I used 3 - Different Embossing Folders, 2 - Large Pearls, 1 - Homemade Scrunch Flower :)

This challenge was a lot of fun and our Design Team really rocked this one with creations that are simply STUNNING! But you will have to go visit the challenge blog to check them out... you won't be disappointed ;)

Hope you will play along with us....

Happy Stampin!

Gorgeous SCRUNCH FLOWERS

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I am SUPER EXCITED because I just had a whole box of NEW STAMPS and PLAYTHINGS delivered from Stampin Up! YAY! I have been waiting impatiently for it to get here :)

While I was waiting I made this gorgeous scrunch flower card using poppy parade cardstock. I have tried a few different versions of the scrunch flower and this is my favorite way to do them. They look so soft and scrunch up really nice. You can do these with different types of flower punches or scallops. The one I used for this is the smaller Stampin Up! Scallop punch - 1 3/4". There is an awesome photo tutorial by Julie Buhler on making these flowers. The layout was inspired by this card I saw that was designed by Theresa Momber.

I wanted my sentiment to pop a little bit off the sponged background but not a lot so I just stamped the sentiment on very vanilla and then punched it using the large oval punch but then just layered it flat on the card. I wanted the focal piece to be that gorgeous flower! I am excited to do these in other colors and with some other punches! I also thought this would make a pretty Christmas card too if you change the sentiment :) Hope you try some of these pretty flowers!
