Whimsy Stamps Guest Designer

Hi Stampers!!

I was lucky enough to have been chosen as a Guest Designer for this week's challenge at Whimsy Stamps! This week the theme is Masculine cards. I have to say that I find these one of my most challenging themes! Here is what I came up...

For my card I used the Whimsy Stamps Crissy Armstrong Digi called In The Doghouse. Pretty fitting for a "Masculine" card, huh? LOL! I printed the image out 3 times so I could layer the dog, flowers and grass to make it look 3D. I also popped the little bone on the house after adding some metal wire. I colored this with copic markers. The designer paper is from My Mind's Eye and my embossing folder is a paw print one that is from the Sizzix Bears line. Not for sure exactly what it s called. I had to sponge everything with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain. I love this stuff!

Here is a closer peek at Tim  the little doggie!

Check out my doggie eyebrows! I added a little bit of liquid applique then puffed it up, colored it with copics, then took my pointy scissors and kind of made little "pokes" in the applique to make it look textured and kind of furry! All the sentiments that I used are from There She Goes Stamps. I hope that I have inspired you to play along at Whimsy Stamps this week!  I want to thank them for having me as a Guest Designer this week!

Thanks for stopping by today!

No Color Anya

Hi Stampers!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend so far! Today is my very first day to take over Saturday's Inspiration Day for Jacqueline. So I hope to inspire you just as much :)

I really love to play along in challenges because sometimes they can really make you think and try something new. It is fun to kind of go outside your normal style once in awhile. That is what I did for today's inspiration project! I saw an interesting challenge on the Anyone for Anya Challenge blog of creating a project where you could not color your image. Now...I have been working really hard on my coloring and trying to learn new things using copic markers so this was a huge stretch for me to NOT color an image - LOL! So I decided to jump out of my box, mix it up and try something totally new :)

Here is my card...with NO COLORING! YIKES!

All in all I actually think it turned out super cute! This is one of my favorite Anya images called Do Si Do Anya. When I saw her the very first time I always pictured her as having a cute yellow gingham dress so since I couldn't color her...I used the colors for my background papers and then paper pieced her bow to tie the image in :) My papers are from the new Bo Bunny Prairie Chic paper pack.

I created a few of my own embellishments for this card - I made a faux button for the heart so it matched my paper. If you have never made your own button before it is TOTALLY easy and I love doing it because no matter what - you will always have the perfect button to match your project! To create my button this is all I did:

1. Punched out 5 - 3/4" circles out of crumb cake cardstock.
2. Punched out 1 - 3/4" circle of my designer paper for the top.
3. Used my button hole punch to punch each circle with the holes. I do this before gluing them together because it gets too thick other wise. I punch one, keep it on my button hole punch and then use it as a guide for the other ones.
4. Glue each of the circles together making sure the button holes line up. Glue your designer paper circle on top.
5. Take a fingernail file or sandpaper, whatever you have and sand the edges to make the edges disappear and become smooth.
6. You can then add glossy accents if you want to make it shiny - I didn't want a shiny button so I just sponged it instead with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Walnut Stain. Added some twine and that's it!

I also added a loopy bloom that I created using the My Favorite Things Die-Namics Die Loopy Blooms - which are my new favorite addiction - LOL! They are just too cute! The sentiment is from the new Greeting Farm Die set called Delicate Words Die. I totally LOVE this die! This is my first die that I have that creates words and I love how they look!

For my layout I used this week's sketch from The Greeting Farm's Double Take Tuesday Challenge:

I hope I inspired you to take some chances once in awhile and try a new style or technique that you may not otherwise try!

Be sure to join us right here tomorrow to hop along with our Design Team on our Sensational Sunday Inspirations Blog Hop! We have an awesome prize up for grabs that will be hidden on one of the Design Team members blogs! It is a lot of fun and you get loads of Inspiration from the team :)

Have a great weekend!
Happy Stampin!

Faith & Trust & Pixie Dust

Hi Stampers!

Today starts a new Loves Rubberstamps challenge! This one is everyone's FAVORITE... Anything Goes! Before I share my project that I created for inspiration... I wanted to share a picture of my Grandma :) For those not aware, she is battling breast cancer for the second time and just had a masectomy at the beginning of March. Last week, I received a surprise in the mail from one of our Design Team members, Athina Emory, of a lovely card for myself, and also one addressed to Gramma and for only her to open it :) Grandma was super touched by the lovely card and she wished for me to tell Athina - thank you so much from the bottom of her heart. She loved the card and thought it was such a wonderful surprise. This is for you Athina :)

For my project today I am trying to use some of my stamps that I have not had the chance to ink up yet. I totally adore C.C. Designs stamps and I saw that their challenge this week is to use an image with wings so I decided to play with Pixie Lucy. This is one of my super favorite stamps and it is horrible that I have had her for so long and never had the chance to color her up yet!

I decided to try and go with some bright, bold, spring-like colors because I am getting tired of cold and snow - LOL! The mushroom image is one from my very first purchase of Magnolia stamps when I bought the Alva and Alf elves collection. This is one of the accessory stamps for the characters to sit on. I colored my Pixie Lucy using copic markers. Her hair and skin colors are all from the 6 piece copic sketch marker set. I don't own very many copics yet so the grays in my mushroom are spectrum noir markers and the cap is actually all the colors from the Color Fusion 2 Trio. The flowers are a mix of handmade rolled flowers and prima flowers. Using so many flowers on a card is a new thing for me too - LOL! I always admire the cards with loads of gorgeous flowers arranged so perfectly. I think I need one more prima flower next to my two rolled ones on the bottom :)

Here is a little closer look at my Pixie Lucy and mushroom together:

And here is a closer look at Pixie Lucy so you can actually see the Dazzling Diamonds on her wings...

I also am super lame when it comes to trying to come up with a lay out for my cards so I looked around and saw this card sketch from Card Mania for their challenge this week and decided to use it for my lay out :)

I hope you enjoyed my project today and please come play along in our challenge this week! Our design Team and myself would love to visit your blog and see your creations :)

Happy Stampin!

A Cup of Cozy Wishes

Hi Stampers!

I have a bonus post for you today :) I had a chance to escape to my stampin studio while my husband was playing Black Ops 2 and switching between that and football. I decided to play along in this week's Kraftin Kimmie Challenge because it has been a little while since I had the opportunity to play in one. This week they had a fun sketch challenge. I love sketch challenges because I can never come up with good ones on my own - LOL!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

I still need to get some Christmas cards made before my last resort of... ugh ... store bought! Shame on me I know! I love this cute snowman from Kraftin Kimmie Stamps called A Cup of Cozy Wishes. I used papers from the Winter Wishes paper pack from Echo Park, which will be loaded in our store very soon :)

The snowflakes are made with glitter paper and the Snowflake Wonder Spellbinders dies. I added some sparkly gems to dress them up a bit too. The embossed snowflake in my background is from the Tattered Angels set called Chillin'.

I colored the snowman using spectrum noir alcohol markers and added dazzling diamonds to her snowbody. Here is a closer look at her:

I hope you enjoyed my card today :) Be sure to check back later this morning for your Happy Holly-Day Inspirational post!

Thanks for stopping by!

Signs you are TOO OLD....

to Trick or Treat!

That is the theme of my card for our Loves Rubberstamps Challenge this week! Our challenge is to use the Out of The Box Technique which is really fun. We also have a special guest sponsor this week... KennyK so our Design Team all used his fun images for our inspirational creations :) I love KennyK and we do carry his rubber stamps in our store!

When I first saw this super cute Trixxie Treat digi stamp from KennyK I immediately thought...Whoa! She looks a tad grown up to be out Trick or Treating...LOL! So my card theme was born!

For my card background I used another one of the KennyK Digi Stamps called Haunted House. I just colored in some of the white areas and sponged some Daffodil Delight for my sky. It is hard to read on the picture but on the tombstone I hand wrote the name: Myra Mains in white Gel Pen.

My Trixxie Treat panel uses the Out of the Box Technique where her legs come out of the bottom of my oval die cut. I colored my Trixxie using Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink Markers and I had printed her out on the Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth White Cardstock.

Here is a close up of Trixxie...

I wanted the background behind her to look kind of like a moon so I sponged Daffodil Delight and then Pumpkin Pie inks around the oval die. They are both from Stampin Up! I popped this panel up on dimensionals.

Here is a look at the inside of my card which features the "Signs"

Here is a closer look at the Joke

The "Joke" is computer generated. The Happy Halloween sentiment is from the stamp set that comes with the My Favorite Things Die-Namics Spider Web & Matching Stamp Set. I stamped this sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

My Designer Paper is from the Enchanted 6x6 Paper Pack by Authentique. This has some gorgeous designs that can be used for a lot more than just Halloween themed projects!

I hope you got a chuckle out of my card today :) Come play along in our Out Of The Box Challenge! We would love to see your project!

Whimsy Stamps GUEST DESIGNER!

Hi Stampers!

Guess what??? I was selected to be this week's GUEST DESIGNER for the Whimsy Stamps Challenge Blog! This week their challenge was ALL THINGS SPARKLY...which I thought was funny because that is also the theme for our challenge this week too...LOL! So BONUS ... when you make a creation for one challenge...it will work for both!

Here is the project that I made:

I used the Shape EZ by TLC Witch's Boot file for the card base and that super cute witch is from the Whimsy Stamps Wee Stamps Collection - Hazel. I colored her with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink Markers, paper pieced the skirt part of her dress, and then used Dazzling Diamonds on her over coat and also added some green glitter to the little dragon's wings. That gorgeous paper that I used for both the skirt and the boot is from Authentique Paper Pack - Enchanted. My sentiment is from the Kraftin Kimmie Halloween Sentiments Collection.

Here is a closer look at Hazel:

I did add some Bling to her necklace and her watch too! I hope that they enjoyed my card! It is kind of intimidating being a guest designer because you want your project to be awesome and hope that it is good enough to be amongst their regular design team :)

I hope that you will play along in BOTH of the Sparkly Challenges!

Have a great day all! I will be back shortly with my design team project for The Cutting Cafe too!

Sweet Lil' Pumpy Kin

Evening All!

Sorry for the late post today! I spent the day with my Grandma and didn't get to do too much in the store, and left before I had a chance to get my pictures uploaded for the challenge and the blog post. My Grandma has breast cancer so I try and spend time with her when I can because you just never know.

I mentioned the other day that this week our Loves Rubberstamps Challenge is also being sponsored by Shape EZ by TLC. These awesome templates are available on the Whimsy Store Website. My Card features one of the new release templates called Pumpy Kin.

I chose to do my card with the Flap because I wanted to hide a little treat inside :)
This template is awesome because it also comes with a version without the flap so you can choose which to use.

My little character on the front is C.C. Designs - Punkin Beatrice. I colored everything except her hair with my spectrum noir alcohol ink markers. Her hair I colored with my prismacolor pencils. I stamped her in momento tuxedo black ink which is awesome for using with alcohol ink markers like spectrum noir and copics. I use the Crafter's  Companion Ultra Smooth White Cardstock made for use with alcohol ink markers because my markers don't bleed quite as bad.

Here is a close up of my little Punkin Beatrice...

I cut her out and popped her with dimensionals, her feet are popped up a second time.

The little crow is a new C.C. Designs Cutters Die called Crow. This little guy I found that when I cute him out with black I had the extra beak piece in black so I popped it upside down with a dimensional as a little wing :)  I like to sponge the edges of my black bodies with a light touch of whisper white ink just to give them some dimension. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things - Die-Namics Primitive Pumpkins Die & Matching Stamp Set.

Here is the inside of my Pumpy Kin Card...

I had purchased this Pumpkin Latte Recipe stamp of Ebay a long time ago because one of my favorite things to do is scrap family recipes. There was no brand name or anything so I am not sure who it is by. I stamped it on very vanilla with early espresso ink and colored the little cups and pumpkins with spectrum noirs. I then just funky cut around it, distressed the edges and sponged them. The gorgeous papers that I used on my pumpkin card are all from the new Bo Bunny Apple Cider 6x6 Paper Pack, except for the green checker gingham on the leaves.

Here is a close up of my Pumpkin Latte Recipe... sounds yummy! Haven't tried it yet but want too!

Be sure to come play along in our challenge this week! The theme is super fun... All About Autumn and not only may you be the winner of our gift voucher to the Loves Rubberstamps Store... Shape EZ is giving a choice of TWO FREE TEMPLATES of choice to the winner as well! You could get this awesome Pumpy Kin Template if you choose!!

** All of the products in BOLD but without the links... these have all arrived and will be listed in the store shortly... once they are in I will post the links in ***

Have a great night all!

Believe In Your Dreams...

Good Morning Everyone!!

It's Wednesday which means another super fun inspiration day at The Cutting Cafe! This week we were asked to use any of the Chevron Files that they carry on our project. Chevrons are so popular right now and are really fun to create with. They can be used for so many occasions too.

I chose to use one of the Chevron Fall Printable Backgrounds on my project. The colors are so pretty in this set! I printed the large Gold colored background on Stampin Up! Whisper White Paper. The large backgrounds print out at almost a full sheet, 8" x 10 1/2". I haven't used very many printable papers because with my printer it seems they come out a little grainy or get annoying lines in them. I did not have ANY PROBLEMS printing these!! They turned out awesome!!

I used the Gold Chevron as my background paper. I sponged the edges with Stampin Up! So Saffron, which goes awesome with this color, and then distressed the edges. The light gray panel, and the white panel are embossed using my chevrons embossing folder. I wanted to keep the chevron pattern in the other panels but wanted them more subtle than my background.

I had found this picture of a Mellow Yellow Dahlia on Gray and White Zigzag Pillow by bedbuggs, on pinterest quite awhile ago and had it pinned to my "card inspirations" folder. I loved the chevron background with the flower and also loved the colors together and thought it would make a pretty card so I used it as my inspiration for this project :)

For the image on this I wanted to keep it very simple too, so I just used a sentiment! This is my very first card that has no images and only a sentiment as the main image - new territory for me :)  I used the Believe sentiment from Great Impressions which I love. I did the dazzling diamonds technique on this to give it some bling and make it pop. The flower on my card is a homemade scrunch flower that I made. Here is a closer look at the sentiment and the "bling." See how pretty the chevron background printed too? ♥ LOVE ♥

The layout I used for my card is this week's Mojo Monday Sketch #260.. I used the Square version.

When you get a chance don't forget to pop on over to The Cutting Cafe Blog today... you can see what all of the other Design Team Members created using chevrons AND if you leave a comment on the Inspiration Post... you could win YOUR CHOICE of 3 FILES from The Cutting Cafe!! How AWESOME is that??

Yummy Frosting...Oh My!

Hi Stampers....

I am back and got my pics all taken of my card that should have posted YESTERDAY...hubby's and their need for sleep...geeze - LOL!!!

Anyway here it is...my Birthday Lulu with her super yummy paper pieced cupcake with my homemade paper "frosting"...

I made this for this week's Kraftin Kimmie Challenge to use paper piecing on your card. I paper pieced the cupcake wrapper and Lulu's party hat and dress. I used papers from the Simple Stories 6x6 paper pack - Baby Steps.

The color scheme works for the challenge at Polka Doodles....Ice Cream Colors. I love ice cream and I have lots of favorite flavors so it is hard to pick just one...
Neopolitan (cuz you get 3 flavors in one!) Chocolate (my base), Strawberry (frosting), Vanilla (main designer paper color)
Then once in a great while you just need pistachio which is sort of the greens in my papers...PLUS nothing goes better with ice cream than Cupcakes with Frosting!

My homemade "frosting" is a mixture of shaving cream and elmer's white glue mixed up so it is thick and goopy like melty half dried out cool whip and then I mixed re-inker drops in to color it. When it was thick and goopy enough I piled it on with my stir sick and then sprinkled pink chunk glitter on top and let it sit and dry overnight. It dries so it is a little puffy and the glitter stays on perfectly!

Here are some close ups, I was trying to capture the puffy frosting like texture, kinda hard to get so I hope you can see it ok....

I also did the "out of the box" technique for my circle piece. The layout is for this week's Mojo Monday Challenge #258.

Be sure that you check out HOLLY'S CARD from today...she also created an ADORABLE Kraftin Kimmie Paper Pieced creation!

Don't miss our DESIGN TEAM CALL either!  I am going to try and figure out how to make it a sticky...so wish me luck :)

I am off to TRY and sleep since I have to report to work...not by choice... at 3am and work until 3pm...how exciting!

Happy Stampin All! Try the frosting technique and let me know what you think! Leave a link to your project so I can check it out :)

U + Me = Chemistry

Hi Stampers!

It's Tuesday which means it is a new Loves Rubberstamps Challenge! This week's challenge is a theme challenge of Back To School. Here is my inspirational card that I made using my FAVORITE Cheeky gal from The Greeting Farm... Cheeky Geeky!

My kids are both older so I really don't have a lot of school themed stuff or really make school themed projects so I made my card more of a love card :)  This would make a cute Anniversary, Birthday Card, Love Note or Valentine I think!

I created my faux chalkboard by using just basic black cardstock, then sponged it with whisper white ink from Stampin Up! I hand wrote the words using a white marker. My heart punchie is from the Owl Punch from Stampin Up! My little piece of chalk is just a scrap piece of white cardstock.

I colored my little geeky girl with my Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink Markers. I added hair strands using the fine sided tips of Stampin Up's More Mustard and Summer Sun stampin write markers. I paper pieced her glittery headband. I used my Stampin Up! Owl punch to punch the little circles for her hair ties because they fit perfectly on them! I used the circles meant for the owl's eyes. I then cut her out and popped her on dimensionals.

Here is a close up of my little geeky girl:

My background paper is from the Simple Stories Baby Steps 6x6 Paper Pack. They have some GORGEOUS patterns in this pack that would be awesome for many occasions, not just new babies!

I think she turned out pretty cute!

I am entering this into the following challenges:
