Christmas Angel Ornament

Good Morning Stampers!

It is FREEZING outside this morning ... woke up to a balmy 18 degrees! YIKES! Makes it so hard to get out of your warm, toasty bed! I shiver at the thought of the long winter ahead...funny since you think I would be used to it living in Iowa - LOL! Nope...I am a warm weather kind gal! At least when it starts getting cold, it does help you start to get in the Christmas spirit. Hard for Iowans to feel festive when it is 72 degrees out - LOL! I haven't dug my Christmas tree out yet but will on my days off next week.

This week for The Cutting Cafe the Design team was given the task of using a super fun set called Christmas Ornament Fun. When I first received this file I was excited because there are SO MANY things you can do with it! It comes with two different shaped ornaments that are nested. The large sized ornaments come in 5 layers and the small ones in 3! There are also ornament shaped cards and borders too! You NEED this set - trust me - LOL! You could use them on scrapbook pages, make your own Christmas Ornaments, use them on cards, use them as tags...so many things! I will be using this A LOT - LOL!

I decided to create a Christmas Ornament using the two smallest nesting sizes for one of the large sized ornament designs. I used some designer paper from the Authentique Festive Collection for one layer and then Riding Hood Red Stampin Up! cardstock for the back layer. Did you notice my beads on top? The long red bead is one of my extra paper beads I had when we used Regina's Paper Bead file to make jewelry last week :) You can use Paper beads as embellishments on your projects too!

For the image on my ornament I wanted to use one of my Crafty Sentiment Designs stamps that I hadn't inked up yet that is called Innocences. When I first saw this stamp I thought she would make a beautiful Christmas Angel. I saw that Crafty Sentiments Designs was having a challenge this week to use traditional Red, White and Green colors on a project so I thought now would be the perfect time to use her :) I colored her using Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers, added some dazzling diamonds to her wings and dress, fussy cut her out and popped her up on dimensionals over a glittery snowflake. It is hard to see all the shimmer and bling on the full size ornament in the picture because when I re-size my pictures sometimes the little bit of shimmer you see disappears.

Here is a close up so you can see some of the sparkle...

To complete my ornament I added some white velvet ribbon and some string pearls. My glue wasn't dry yet on my ribbon so it looks kind of see through in my picture, sorry about that! I also added some red bling gems to my glitter snowflake.I wanted it to kind of resemble holly since she IS a Christmas Angel - LOL!

I plan on making more ornaments to hang on my tree using many of my favorite stamp images! I think it gives you another fun and easy way to use your stamps for more than just cards! Hope you enjoyed today's project :) Later this afternoon, pop over to The Cutting Cafe blog where you will be able to see how the other design team members used this fun file and there are also prizes to be won :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Your Happy Place

Happy Tuesday Stampers!

Tuesdays are a new challenge at Loves Rubberstamps! This week - our Guest Sponsor is - Eureka Stamps. They offer some really fun and cute stamps in both digi and wood form.

Our team was able to create some samples using some of their fun digi sets for our challenge this week :)  The theme is KRAFT + Another Color of your choice! I love using Kraft and it looks amazing with any color it is paired with :) I am a Kraft junkie and use it on almost all my creations - I have to admit!

Here is my Inspirational piece using the Large Ostrich digi stamp from Eureka Stamps.

I colored my ostrich image using Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink Markers and then I put clear embossing powder over the legs, neck, and white feathers so I could mask and sponge my background scene.

After I finished the ostrich I decided to add my sentiment to the same panel. I originally stamped this in a dark blue and didn't really like how it looked...so then I tried adding white polka dots to it with a gel pen...and didn't like that either - LOL! So I went completely over my letters with the gel pen and thought it looked kind of like how a plane would write words in the sky ... so I added the little plane with a swirl of smoke so it looks like they just wrote the sentiment. LOL! The little plane and sentiment are both from the Paper Smooches Set - Get Outta Town.

I used the sketch from this week's Deconstructed Sketch #78.

Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to come play along in our challenge!

Happy Stampin!

Sweet Apples

Happy Monday Stampers!

Today is an especially blah day when you have to go back to work after the Holiday weekend! Mine will be double blah when I have to weigh in tonight at weight watchers after the holiday - LOL! Oh well...won't be my first yo-yo week. I have been yo-yoing and losing the same 4 pounds about 3 times now - LOL! I should be a super model by now as many times as I have lost the same 20 pounds over and over and over. GRRR - LOL! I am one of those lucky people that lose 5 pounds, smell a cupcake and gain 7 pounds!

At least being Monday we get to see a beautiful inspirational piece by Olivia. Her cheery and bright cards always make me feel better :)

Olivia used the adorable Sweet Apples from Belles 'N Whistles. We just loaded our very last shipment of Belles 'N Whistles into the store! Belles went out of business and we purchased all of their remaining inventory so once our stock is gone.... it is really gone! So get yours while you can!

I always love the cheery and bright colors Olivia chooses. She colored her up with copics (which I will start adding to the store this week) and used some sponging for definition. I love this layout and it looks so pretty with the chipboard frame. Who wouldn't smile at getting a little note this cute? I think I should have taken a lesson from this cutie and stuck to apples this week - LOL!

With it being Cyber Monday we do have a special going on....

Elisabeth Bell's World - Guest Designer

Hi Stampers!

Before I get to the Sensational Sunday Inspirations Post I wanted to share with you my Guest Designer Project for this month's Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge. This month the challenge is a Different Fold Technique and you were supposed to create a non-traditional style of card. I decided to tackle a Double Zig Zag because I wanted to use a card fold that I could showcase a few different stamps. This is my first time trying this style of card but I was really happy with how my project turned out :) I followed the tutorial from Mariannes Papirverden

Sorry for all the pictures, but it was the best way to let you see each area, this card style is kind of tough to take pictures of - LOL!

Here is my card closed. You create a band that wraps around the card to hold it shut. The sentiment that I used is from Paper Smooches Little Lady stamp set.

After removing the band this first opening reveals my first image that I used. I wanted to play with some of my Elisabeth Bell stamps that I have had for a looooong time and haven't inked up for awhile. All of the images I used were originally purchased from Sugar Nellie stamps, but they do not carry these anymore and a few of the images have been relicensed and are available from Elphine House Australia. This image is called Hug In a Mug. I added two silver glitter snowflakes with a rhinestone in the center for some bling.

Tucked behind my Hug In a Mug image on the right side I added this image which is one you can still get at Elphine House Australia and it is now called Danny Boy Jingle Bells. This tucks in behind the Hug In a Mug image so when it is closed like in the picture above you don't see it.

Here is my card fully opened and now you can see my center panel that contains another image that is available at Elphine House Australia called Ebony Christmas Snowflakes.

Here is a closer look at her:

She is one of my favorite Elisabeth Bell images - so pretty!

The center flap opens up and you see my final image that I used that is called Christmas Kisses.

The bird is part of the image but hangs right over their head. I wanted to add some punchies using my Martha Stewart Medium Branch Punch so I masked it and stamped it higher. I just hand wrote the inside sentiment.

I colored all of my images using Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink Markers. My Designer Paper is from a retired Stampin Up! set that I had left.

I enjoyed creating this special fold card and have some ideas for some new ones. My husband had a brilliant idea for one so I will have to try his idea once I get the right stamps :) I will keep it a secret and just show you once it is done :)

I hope you enjoyed my Guest Designer Project for Elisabeth Bell's Challenge Blog! I had a lot of fun creating this and I hope I have inspired you to play along in their challenge this month!

Thanks for stopping by!

Whimsy Stamps Guest Designer January

Hi Stampers -

While I was checking out the Whimsy Stamps Blog Hop for their new releases I saw that they are having the opportunity to be a Guest Designer for their January 2013 Release. I am a HUGE Whimsy Stamps fan so I thought I would throw my name into the pool and give it a shot :)

One of the things that I love about Whimsy Stamps is that each of their collections are unique but all are super fun to use and adorable! They have really talented stamp artists and their Design Team is absolutely amazing. In fact, I even had to purchase one of Iris's gorgeous cards on Etsy just to see it in person :D And it was even more stunning in real life! It would be such an honor to join this talented team, if only for a week :)

I thought I would share some of my favorite, fairly recent projects using stamps from Whimsy. These have all been done within the last 6 months or so.

This was my project when I was the Guest Designer for the Whimsy Stamps Challenge Blog
for October of 2012. In addition to using Hazel from the Wee Stamps Collection, I also used one of the Shape EZ Templates - Spooky Boot.

This Caramel Apple Project won the Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge and also allowed me to be their Guest Designer for November 2012.

This card is one I made using the KennyK Policeman stamp for the KennyK challenge blog. It was my entry for their Sketch Challenge #107 and this card was the winner.

This is one of my favorite KennyK images so I thought I would share this one as well :)

Thank you so much for stopping by and peeking back through my creations using some various Whimsy Stamps :)

Have a great night all!

Fishin' Buddies

Happy Saturday Stampers!

I am popping on here quick and then heading over to the store site to start adding new goodies! YAY! I spent the morning, not as I planned...my daughter had her car window smashed out so we were busy filing the police report and getting that taken care of. At least she was fine and nothing happened to her. Windows can be replaced.

Today is Jacqueline's Day to share some inspiration with you! I love Saturdays and getting to see what gorgeous creation she has made for us!

Jacqueline created this adorable card using the Fishin' Friends stamp from the Crissy Armstrong collection from Whimsy Stamps. I LOVE how she colored this up using her prismacolor pencils. Looks like an art painting! Jacqueline does AMAZING using her pencils! Every time I see her cards it makes me want to pull mine out and start practicing my coloring, but then I think about all of the pencil sharpening I would have to do first - LOL! I really need to get them sharpened up so I use them more because as Jacqueline card shows you get some gorgeous results when you use them. Jacqueline uses Memento Tuxedo Black ink to use with her prismacolors, this ink is also great for using with the alcohol ink markers too.

Those cute birthday tickets are also from Whimsy Stamps. They are called Celebration Mini Tickets. Jacqueline finished her card off by creating many different layers she created using spellbinders dies and various other sizzix dies. Plus that gorgeous two color ribbon! You can read all about her creative process by visiting her blog.

I had my own special fishin' buddy...my Grandpa! We used to go on fishing trips together to our relatives in Missouri and go farm pond fishing for bass when I was little, just me and Grandpa! We had so much fun. We also would go cat fishing in the rivers around here. I will always treasure those special memories now that he has passed. He has been gone, coming up on 5 years now, and I still miss and think of him everyday. My husband isn't a big fisherman so when I do convince him to go with me, I always outfish him ;) I know it is because Grandpa is up there, helping me catch the lunkers :)

Here is a picture of my Grandpa when he was in the Marines...

His smile reminds me of Elvis Presley - LOL!

Anyway...I better go get busy! Be sure to get your comment in for this week's Sensational Sunday Inspirations post because we draw a winner tomorrow with the new posting! I will also have a special post tomorrow too...because I am going to be a Guest Designer for Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog for their challenge that starts tomorrow :)

Have a great day all!

You Amaze me!

Happy Black Friday Stampers!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I was actually off this year so I prepared a typical Thanksgiving feast for the family. I was also able to have both my Mom and my Grandma join us for dinner so it was extra special. My Mom loves to come over and see all my new crafty things I have been making and then tries to take them all home with her - LOL! I did give her a few things so she didn't leave empty handed - plus I know she loves them so it feels nice to give something you worked hard on to someone you know will appreciate it :)

Did you all venture out to get some Black Friday deals today? Not me... I don't like shopping in crowded stores any day of the year, so I stay home on Black Friday. I do pick up a few deals online, but Cyber Monday is more my style - LOL!

We do have a BLACK FRIDAY SPECIAL at Loves Rubberstamps that will continue THROUGH Sunday 11-25! Save 20% storewide - except on preorders - by using the coupon code BLACKFRIDAY

We will also be having an awesome deal for Cyber Monday that you will not want to miss either! I will share the details of that sale on our Sensational Sunday Inspirations post :) There are loads of awesome FREE GIFTS to get though... I will tell you that!

Plus I will be adding loads of new stuff to the store all weekend! So you never know what new goodies will be available!

Today is Friday which means that it is a HOLLY DAY! Here is Holly's awesome card that she created for your inspiration:

Holly used the super cute stamp set called Corn Maze Girl from the Pure Innocence Collection by My Favorite Things. Holly used the My Favorite Things Dies-namics Dies - Picket Fence and the Grass Die to help create this cute Fall scene. I love the rich Autumn colors that Holly chose with her Authentique Papers and the simple layout. She also made sure to use some twine to keep with this week's theme in our Loves Rubberstamps Challenge of using Ribbon on your project! We have an awesome sponsor this week so there will be one awesome prize package to our winner! You don't want to miss out!

Have a great day all! If you are venturing out shopping stay safe!

Happy Stampin!

Paper Beads

Hi Stampers!

Today I have a fun Design Team project to share with you for The Cutting Cafe. This week we were to use the Paper Beads Set and the Jewelry Holder Set files. Now I have never in my life made a paper bead so I was excited to try these out. I ended up creating a bracelet with a Christmas feel.

My Paper beads are the red ones with the Merry Christmas print. I paired these with some various regular beads to create this bracelet. This was my first time making a piece of jewelry so I had a hard time figuring out how to finish it with the clasp and had really no clue what type of wire, or cord or what kind of supplies I needed to make something like this. I tried searching for some videos on it and then came across some really good ones... AFTER ... I totally winged my way through this - LOL!

I love how these colors look together and how my beads turned out. I plan on making quite a few more of these now that I know how I am supposed to really put them together :) I want to get some made for Christmas gifts so as soon as I get more made I will share them with you.

The cool thing about the paper bead file that Regina created is that there are LOTS of different shapes you can make, and tall and short beads too. I want  to make one of each type so I have them for reference.

Here is a picture of my bracelet in my Jewelry Holder box. This is the long box for necklaces or bracelets. The insert piece is supposed to be the whole length of the box but the paper I wanted to use was a tad shorter so I had to adjust it.

I hope you liked my bracelet :) I do have to forewarn you...once you try this you will be hooked and you will want to make lots more! I know I will be :)

Be sure to visit The Cutting Cafe Blog to see all the jewelry the other Design team ladies created! We saw a sneak peek at a couple that were just gorgeous so I know you will be in for a treat today!

Thanks for stopping by!

Ribbon Blossom Bookmark

Hi Stampers!

Today we have a really fun challenge this week over at our Loves Rubberstamps Challenge Blog called Fun With Ribbons. All you have to do to play along is create a project that uses ribbon on it! You can get creative with it, or use it the standard way with a bow (which is super hard for me - LOL)!

This week we are also being sponsored by The Paper Shelter who has the absolute CUTEST Digi Stamp sets on the planet! They are offering a $20.00 Gift Voucher to our Winner! So if you play along...you could receive that awesome prize PLUS a Gift voucher to Loves Rubberstamps. Either $10.00 or $20.00 depending on what stamp you use! So it is an awesome week to play along!

For my Inspiration project I decided to create a ribbon bookmark that features one of the super cute images from our sponsor!

Here is my bookmark laying flat! I can tell you that this sucker was HARD to photograph because the ribbon isn't stiff. This cute image I used is from The Paper Shelter and it is called Gothic and Modern. I colored her using my spectrum noir markers and had printed her out onto crafters companion ultra smooth white cardstock that is designed to use with alcohol ink markers.

After coloring her up I cut her out using my colluzzle and then layered her on top of silver glitter paper. I sandwiched my ribbon between the layers. Now... my normal double sided adhesive wouldn't stick to the glitter paper very well. Holly had recommended that I try the Best Glue Ever from ScrapPerfect quite awhile ago and she had told me that when you glue layers with it - it didn't wrinkle your paper all up. I decided to try it and it worked amazing! No wrinkles or anything and it really sticks to that glitter paper! I also used it to sandwich my two other pieces onto my ribbon.

I used the stamp set that comes in the My Favorite Things Die-Namics Bookmark & matching stamp set for the sentiment. I stamped it and then cute each word out and layered them using glue dots.

Here is a close up of my bookmark main panel.

To really get creative with my ribbon I decided to attempt a ribbon blossom for the top piece that sticks out of your book. You are supposed to use about 6" long ribbon strips tied together, however I didn't want my flower super huge. I am always skimpy with ribbon because I hate wasting it ...so I tried cutting mine about  3 inches. Well...you need to make them 6" because they are super hard to knot otherwise! This was my first attempt at these ribbon blossoms so I will know next time to not skimp on my ribbon - LOL! Since I had already cut them all I decided to go ahead and use it. It didn't turn out super awesome, but it will work for me :)

Here is a look at my bookmark doing it's job...

Kind of looks like a ribbon blob mess...but I tried - LOL! Here is one last look at the whole thing...

I hope you liked my project! I think I will be making some bookmarks for some christmas gifts...but next time I won't be skimpy with my ribbon for my blossom - LOL!

Here is my TOP TIP - for the Top Tip Tuesday Challenge - My purple gingham ribbon that I used kept wanting to fray at the ends and I had to keep trimming them down. So what I did was I took my heat gun and got it nice and hot and then just blew it on my ribbon ends to melt them just a tad, and it stopped the fraying :)
Thanks for stopping and remember...if you make a project with ribbon on it - we wanna see it so play along in our challenge!

Happy Stampin!

Warm Apple Pie

Hi Stampers!

Guess What??? Last week I was contacted by the sweet Summer, who owned Belles 'N Whistles. Sadly, Belles has now closed their doors and Summer asked me if I wanted to purchase their remainder stock. I said .. OF COURSE - LOL! And guess what came in the mail today?? Yep... new Belles 'N Whistles whoooo hooo! 283 to be exact! I will be working hard getting these in the store!! There are some images that are already in there, but quite a few NEW IMAGES that we didn't have so that is exciting! Now... because we just bought all of her remaining stock...this is our absolute last shipment so if there are images you were wanting...snag them up because when they are gone...they are gone!

Olivia's card today is perfect for two..well three...actually more like four reasons but who is counting! LOL!

1. She used a Belles 'N Whistles stamp on her card
2. It is one that we didn't have listed in the store... BUT NOW WE WILL... because it was one that came today...so YAY YAY YAY!!
3. It is perfect for Thanksgiving which will be here before you know it...and fits in this week's
Thanksgiving Challenge which you still have a few hours left to enter
4. BECAUSE IT IS JUST SO ADORABLE!

Didn't I tell you it is adorable? Olivia did a great job coloring her image with a mix of both spectrum noir markers and copics. I love the bright, rich Autumn inspired colors she chose and that turquoise gives it a great pop! In order to use the alcohol ink markers and not have her black ink run, Olivia stamped her image using memento tuxedo black ink on the Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth White Cardstock for alcohol markers.

Well... I have lots of things to get done! So I better get crackin!

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check all of the NEW ITEMS listed in the store! We have been adding lots - with tons more to come!!

Happy Stampin!

There are 15 new images coming and they are expected to start shipping to us around mid December. You will want to get your PREORDERS in because they run out of the popular stamps pretty quickly and then it is quite awhile before they get more in. As a Thank You for Pre-Ordering through us - we will include a Free Surprise Gift in every order :)

Be sure to keep a close eye on all of our NEW ITEMS because we are listing lots of new products this week, including new Magnolia Stamps!!
